There’s only one relationship that matters to Tameron “Tam” Kis—his love affair with dance. Life’s been pretty shitty, but dance got him through it and now he’s ready to focus on what he loves. He doesn’t have the bandwidth for any distractions—especially not his sexy, not-quite-straight new neighbor.

Driver Ellis doesn’t need anything but his bike and the open road. He wouldn’t trade his drifter lifestyle for anything…until his friend calls in a favor and Driver suddenly finds himself pet-sitting. Driver isn’t thrilled being stuck in one place, though things start to look up when he sets eyes on the gorgeous girl next door.

There’s just one problem… She isn’t a girl at all.

All it takes is one spontaneous dance to turn both Driver’s and Tam’s worlds upside down. They might not have been looking for love, but as things heat up between them, it’s clear life has very different plans.

four-stars

Tam and Driver had all my feels people. I really loved this book, and my rating was on the way to a full 5 stars but I needed more of an ending, epilogue or something else. Basically, I didn’t want their story to end. Tam, the introverted was so stellar in this book, his story really showed him in a different light. He’s a fighter, he’s a survivor, he’s a dreamer, and a believer. I really felt for Tam, but not pity at all. I felt pride for him. He took his life and fought for everything he’s wanted. Then poor Driver enters Tam life and its over. Driver who isn’t able to stay put for long. He’s running from a past and doesn’t want to face any of his fears.

Both guys were equally amazing on their own. Both had similar thoughts and feelings but different experiences. I really enjoyed their gradual buildup to a semblance of any kind of relationship. I loved how they were getting to know one another with a friendship and their feelings escalated to a physical relationship. With both guys being so emotionally stunted, it was a wonder to see them grow to care, to learn and fall in love with each other.

This book made me have all the feels. I really enjoyed the character building. I don’t do angst at all, and it was alot of it to go around but it didn’t feel overshadowed by the other events in the story. I hope we’ll get to see the newer sassy boys with books. I look forward to Lirium’s story next. I think fans of this series will enjoy this installment alot.

Two lovers from rival packs. Have they come together only to be forced apart?

Alec Knight, a beta in the Regent’s Park pack, guards his heart carefully. Ghosts from his past keep him alone and angry, any hope of a relationship impossible while guilt from the pack wars still haunts him. With the anniversary drawing near, Alec needs a distraction.

As a lowly member of the Primrose Hill pack, Mark Appleton isn’t used to having his alpha’s attention. Lately he’s had more than his fair share, and not for the right reasons. Despite growing suspicions that all is not well, Mark tries hard to do better, but constant criticism leaves him desperate for a stress outlet.

Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.

If they want to be together, they’ll have to go against their alphas’ wishes—except Alec won’t and Mark can’t.

Excerpt

Mark’s scent might have been lost to him before, but standing this close to him, Alec had no trouble picking it out—a light citrusy undertone to the spicy edge he’d detected earlier with just a hint of the tequila working its way out of his system. Even with the alcohol, he smelled good.

Alec took a deep breath in, not bothering to be subtle about it. Might as well put the offer out there. He wasn’t in the mood for games tonight. Maybe he hadn’t consciously gone in there with the intent of hooking up with Mark, but he liked what he saw. Dark hair and blue-green eyes had always done it for him.

It was a bad idea; the worst one Alec had had in a while probably. But like it had done on the street outside, Mark’s scent stirred Alec’s interest, making his wolf perk up and take notice. He didn’t always get that with people he fucked. When it happened, it boded well for the night ahead.

And it was just sex, right? After Cam’s accusations, Alec couldn’t make relations between their packs any worse. Cam might disagree, but Alec needed to get all this tension out of his system if he was to be any use to his alpha over the next few days. And both he and his wolf had decided on Mark.

Some stories are epic.

The Earth is in a state of collapse, with wars breaking out over resources and an environment pushed to the edge by human greed.

Three living generation ships have been built with a combination of genetic mastery, artificial intelligence, technology, and raw materials harvested from the asteroid belt. This is the story of one of them—43 Ariadne, or Forever, as her inhabitants call her—a living world that carries the remaining hopes of humanity, and the three generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers working to colonize her.

From her humble beginnings as a seedling saved from disaster to the start of her journey across the void of space toward a new home for the human race, The Stark Divide tells the tales of the world, the people who made her, and the few who will become something altogether beyond human.

Humankind has just taken its first step toward the stars.

Excerpt

DRESSLER, SCHEMATIC,” Colin McAvery, ship’s captain and a third of the crew, called out to the ship-mind.

A three-dimensional image of the ship appeared above the smooth console. Her five living arms, reaching out from her central core, were lit with a golden glow, and the mechanical bits of instrumentation shone in red. In real life, she was almost two hundred meters from tip to tip.

Between those arms stretched her solar wings, a ghostly green film like the sails of the Flying Dutchman.

“You’re a pretty thing,” he said softly. He loved these ships, their delicate beauty as they floated through the starry void.

“Thank you, Captain.” The ship-mind sounded happy with the compliment—his imagination running wild. Minds didn’t have real emotions, though they sometimes approximated them.

He cross-checked the heading to be sure they remained on course to deliver their payload, the man-sized seed that was being dragged on a tether behind the ship. Humanity’s ticket to the stars at a time when life on Earth was getting rapidly worse.

All of space was spread out before him, seen through the clear expanse of plasform set into the ship’s living walls. His own face, trimmed blond hair, and deep brown eyes, stared back at him, superimposed over the vivid starscape.

At thirty, Colin was in the prime of his career. He was a starship captain, and yet sometimes he felt like little more than a bus driver. After this run… well, he’d have to see what other opportunities might be awaiting him. Maybe the doc was right, and this was the start of a whole new chapter for mankind. They might need a guy like him.

The walls of the bridge emitted a faint but healthy golden glow, providing light for his work at the curved mechanical console that filled half the room. He traced out the T-Line to their destination. “Dressler, we’re looking a little wobbly.” Colin frowned. Some irregularity in the course was common—the ship was constantly adjusting its trajectory—but she usually corrected it before he noticed.

“Affirmative, Captain.” The ship-mind’s miniature chosen likeness appeared above the touch board. She was all professional today, dressed in a standard AmSplor uniform, dark hair pulled back in a bun, and about a third life-sized.

The image was nothing more than a projection of the ship-mind, a fairy tale, but Colin appreciated the effort she took to humanize her appearance. Artificial mind or not, he always treated minds with respect.

“There’s a blockage in arm four. I’ve sent out a scout to correct it.”

The Dressler was well into slowdown now, her pre-arrival phase as she bled off her speed, and they expected to reach 43 Ariadne in another fifteen hours.

Pity no one had yet cracked the whole hyperspace thing. Colin chuckled. Asimov would be disappointed. “Dressler, show me Earth, please.”

A small blue dot appeared in the middle of his screen.

Dressler, three dimensions, a bit larger, please.” The beautiful blue-green world spun before him in all its glory.

Appearances could be deceiving. Even with scrubbers working tirelessly night and day to clean the excess carbon dioxide from the air, the home world was still running dangerously warm.

He watched the image in front of him as the East Coast of the North American Union spun slowly into view. Florida was a sliver of its former self, and where New York City’s lights had once shone, there was now only blue. If it had been night, Fargo, the capital of the Northern States, would have outshone most of the other cities below. The floods that had wiped out many of the world’s coastal cities had also knocked down Earth’s population, which was only now reaching the levels it had seen in the early twenty-first century.

All those new souls had been born into a warm, arid world.

We did it to ourselves. Colin, who had known nothing besides the hot planet he called home, wondered what it had been like those many years before the Heat.

Scott spends his time between the here and now and the what could be. Enticed into fantasy and sci fi by his mom at the tender age of nine, he devoured her Science Fiction Book Club library. But as he grew up, he wondered where all the people like him were in the books he was reading.

He decided that it was time to create the kinds of stories he couldn’t find at his local bookstore. If there weren’t gay characters in his favorite genres, he would remake them to his own ends.

His friends say Scott’s mind works a little differently – he sees relationships between things that others miss, and gets more done in a day than most folks manage in a week. He loves to transform traditional sci fi, fantasy, and contemporary worlds into something unexpected.

Starting in 2014, Scott has published more than 15 works, including two novels and a number of novellas and short stories.

Horse shifter Nick has one rule: never trust a witch.

Nick has devoted his life to making his saloon a safe haven for the feral familiars of New York. So when a brutal killer slaughters a feral under his protection, Nick has no choice but to try and catch the murderer. Even if that means bonding with a handsome Irish witch.

Officer Jamie MacDougal came back from the war in Cuba missing part of a leg and most of his heart. After his former lover becomes one of the killer’s victims, Jamie will do anything to solve the case.

Nick comes to Jamie with a proposal: after making a temporary bond, they will work together to stop the murders. Once the killer is caught, they walk away and never see one another again.

It sounds simple enough. But the passion that flares between the two men won’t be so easily extinguished. And if Nick can’t learn to trust his witch, he stands to lose everything—including his life.

four-stars

This book!!!! It was everything. Hawk never disappoints. I mean the story was so heavily featured with an actual plot plot for this series. Not that the other ones haven’t been, but this one had alot of grit in it. Nick finally gets his love and book. Ornery stubborn as this horse, Nick. He finds his match in the last person he’d ever want. Jamie MacDogual, MWP policeman and witch. Two things Nick abhors the most. This is definitely a longer book in the series compared to the others. A lot of things took place. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. My only issue was the ending. Bit abrupt in the Nick & Jamie sense. I mean, the fight the good fight and we get maybe 3 pages of them at the end. I’m not looking for full chapters of what’s to come, but I definitely wanted more.

I admire Nick and everything he’s stood for. He has his personal beliefs and the reasons for all his reservations with the police and witches. His past plays a big part of how he moves in & out the world. Nick is up against the wall in his crusade for the familiars in his world. He’s a major play in the Familiar world in New York. He’s also a major pain for the cops and the bad guys in this book. He has to bite the bullet and do something he didn’t think he’d ever do. Bond with a witch. Not any witch, but his mate. The one person that is going to unlock his magic together through their bond. Jamie MacDogual is his mate. Jamie has his own reservations. He’s trying to live up to the war hero. It isn’t that he doesn’t want to be it, but the truth and who he is now is different. I loved that Jamie was a listener. He was really adamant about seeing both sides since he’s involved so much.

Their progression together isn’t easy. Nick fights his attraction every step of the way. Jamie realizes his feelings for Nick is only about Nick. I thought the story was really well thought out. It was written amazingly. Oh my goodness, I got to see some of my favorites like Rook, Cicero & Mal. Issac, I cannot wait for his book. Hawk’s work is always impressive and really well written. She continues to execute her work as amazing as ever.

Curtis Hunt has made a name for himself as a chainsaw wood carver, winning national competitions and operating a small business in Rainbow Cove, Oregon. As winter whittles away his tourist traffic, his goal is just to survive the season and try to not get lost in grief for his dead lover. It’s been two years, but he’s sure he’ll never be over the love of a lifetime. However, his body has a certain restlessness that he doesn’t quite know how to calm.

Logan Rosner knows a thing or two about restlessness. It’s what drove him to Rainbow Cove to be a chef at a bar and grill run by his friends. And it’s what drives him to a single sizzling encounter with the local legendary lumberjack. Both men get far more than they expected and learn that first impressions aren’t always accurate…

But when Logan proposes a series of sexy lessons, Curtis must decide how much he’s willing to risk. He knows he can’t afford to get attached to Logan’s good cooking, his easy smiles, or his caretaking, but he keeps going back for more, even as deeper emotions become involved. Soon, Curtis must decide whether to risk his heart again or risk losing Logan for good.

four-stars

I enjoyed book one alot, but this one had the KINK and the EMOTIONS!!!! #Winning.

From the beginning, I truly enjoyed reading from both guys point of views. It had all my favorite tropes age gap, kink, big muscly tattooed guys, prim and proper slimmer guys, emotional roller coasters and foodgasms.  Albert is such an amazing story teller. I love her writing process, and everything she puts into her characters. The differences in personalities are such a big thing. I love that not one of her characters are the same. The dilemmas that each guy found themselves had brought them to each other for different reasons. Logan wanting to be someone he’s always dreamed of and Curtis trying to fight what he secretly craves.

Curtis, Curtis, Curtis dude its like pulling teeth with you. Argh, I wanted to scream and understand all at the same damn time. Curtis is a grouchy vegan, wood carver with a kink out of this world. Curtis is grieving for his husband, friend, and family. His ex was all that wrapped into one person. Kink is something that he wants and needs. Not really feeling Logan “The Kid”, Curtis continuously blows him off. His perceptions of Logan are well off, and he does things that makes him open his eyes. Logan has wants and desires. Things that he felt he couldn’t have back in Portland. Well Rainbow Cove, has been good to him. In coming here and finding his niche, he’s found his counterpart in Curtis. Total opposites attract story as well.

I won’t go into the plot. That’s never any fun. This story is a roller coaster. Its fun, sweet, painful, sexy, and tears all at once. Fans of Albert’s writing will fawn over this. She delivers a powerful punch of emotions, and I’m never disappointed. Cannot wait for the third book. The writing was good overall, the pacing was steady, and the kink side of the book was very powerful. A sweet HEA at the end of the day. Wouldn’t mind seeing these two in the future.

Synopsis

Josh Sheehan is unlucky in love and now… newly unemployed. He’s not sure what to do next, but he’s sure he should give up on romance. Especially after last time. His friends warned him that falling for the hunky Irishman was a bad idea. Josh can’t help feeling torn even though he knows it’s best to move on. But when an unexpected dose of family drama blindsides him, Josh finds himself leaning on the one man he’s supposed to forget.

Finn Gallagher is driven by success. He makes no secret that building a name for his tech company is his number one goal. Finn left home a decade ago with a ton of regret, a heavy heart, and a vow to never repeat the same mistake twice. However, there is something undeniably appealing about the self-deprecating man with the silly sense of humor that makes it difficult for Finn to remember why falling for Josh is a bad idea. It soon becomes clear they’re both in deeper than they intended. There is no way to remain untouched. And there is so much to gain, if they’re brave enough to lean in.

Excerpt

Finn smiled and fell into step beside me. It seemed quieter on the street than it was earlier; there wasn’t as much foot traffic. Typical for midweek, I supposed. I breathed in the refreshing night air, loving the faint smell of the ocean. I shivered and crossed my arms. So much for enjoying a leisurely stroll. It was cold as fuck out here. I picked up my pace, but Finn pulled at my elbow to stop me.

“Are you daft? Where’s your coat?”

“I f-forgot it at the last bar. It’s okay. I’m cl-close.” I visibly shook when the wind whipped up the sidewalk, sending a scrap of newspaper flying by us like a paper airplane.

“Let’s go back and get it.”

“No, my friend will give it to me later. Or her friend will. I’m almost h-home so—what are you doing?”

“Put this on, then.”

Finn shrugged his suit coat off and set it over my shoulders like a cape or a cloak. He was two inches taller than me and far more muscular. It was like being wrapped in his warm, cologne-scented embrace. The gesture was so chivalrous, it left me speechless for a moment. I knew he was just being kind, but I couldn’t contain my smile.

“Thank you,” I said. “Are you sure you won’t be too cold?”

“Where I’m from, this is a summer breeze. You need it more than I do. Now tell me about your mates. I’m relieved to know you weren’t out drowning your sorrows on your own tonight.”

I snickered at his paternal tone. “I’m not above it, that’s for sure, but no…I was with my work crew for one last happy hour. Marley insisted. She was the redhead with the awesome curls I was with this morning at the museum.”

“I remember. She’s the one holding your jacket for ransom, eh?”

“Yeah. She’s on a mission to find the perfect man for me,” I huffed, making sure he saw my eye roll before we turned the corner to my street.

“Has she ruled out women? You’re bi, aren’t you?”

“Honestly, I don’t know what I am anymore. I had girlfriends in high school and even in college but after the first time I was with a man, I haven’t been interested in anything but dick.”

Finn laughed. “Good to know.”

“What about you?” I asked, leading him down a brick path and up a short flight of stairs.

I leaned against the bright red door as I fumbled for the house key in my front pocket. In my head, I was planning a cinematic-worthy good-bye. Something lighthearted but sincere before we parted for the last time. It would have been a helluva lot easier to concentrate if he wasn’t standing so close and looking at me like I was the last brownie on the buffet table. I cocked my head and waited for him to break the spell.

“I like it too,” he said in a husky voice I hadn’t heard in far too long.

I gulped and licked my bottom lip as he moved in, bending slightly to brush his nose against mine. He surrounded me in every possible way. The heat of his body and the warmth of his coat draped me in a seductive cocoon. I felt woozy with a rush of desire so intense, I would’ve swayed on my feet if he hadn’t been standing so close. I set my right hand on his hip to steady myself and leaned in…just as he pushed away.

Finn let out a ragged breath and swiped his hand over his stubbled chin. “Fuck. I forgot how bloody difficult it is to walk away from you.”

“Then don’t.”

three-half-stars

I can’t believe I read another Sex & Dlonae story. Yeah, that’s how I refer to them. I keep saying I’m going to stay away because its so much stuff happening that I can’t keep up at times. Well obviously, I didn’t keep my word and read it right away. I liked it enough. It had its funny moments, it had its smexy time moments big time, and about time I saw Austen & Zachary!!! I’m waiting on their story. It doesn’t seem to be coming fast enough. Dex is his usual annoying self, and Sloane has managed to turn into a neutered jaguar, but hey Wolf was totally in this one. I can’t wait to read more on him.

Pre-gaming for a wedding is definitely a necessity. I enjoyed all those festivities in my own, and can acknowledge that Dex wanted his own. I was a little leery on Sloane not having the same, but once you read it then you totally get it. Ummm, I’m trying to figure out who the mole is. I mean, Dex isn’t a celebrity so for these events to happen then it’ll have to be someone close to him giving up all the deets. I’m trying to step away from this series, but its addictive & aggravating all in the same sentence.

I do like seeing all the couples come together and celebrate this union. I know we are near the ending of this series, and I’d like to see a few couples spotlights and maybe see Tony & Sparks really come together publicly. Yeah, I want pops happy. Fans of the Thirds Series will really enjoy this. Don’t read this series out of order, you really won’t understand.

To be loved by a dragon is to be treasured.

A hundred years ago, werewolf Alpha Montgomery took a risk driven by desperation—he borrowed money from the ancient dragon Warwick Ehecatl, putting up the pack lands as collateral. Now the debt is due, and dragons don’t forget—or forgive. Warwick demands Montgomery’s son, Avery, and three businesses as compensation. As an Omega, Avery knows he is basically useless to his pack, so he might as well agree. He soon has second thoughts, though. Warwick is fearsome, and he’s free to do as he likes with Avery.

Warwick knows his race’s reputation, and he even admits some of it is deserved. But he’d rather cut off his tail than let his innocent mate’s light go out. It won’t be easy, but buried deep, there’s something between them worth safeguarding.

four-stars

This hit all my creamy crack comfort reads!

√ Possessive-Aggressive Alpha Dudes

√ Virgin Guys

√ Shifters

√ Scorching Hot Foreplay

If this was a series book, then I’d be the first person in line to gobble these up. I’m addicted to alpha-omega stories, and don’t care if it isn’t wolf shifters. I really adored Church’s The Harvest series. This book was really good. It was sweet, fluffy, cheesiness, and scorching hot. I read it in one sitting from page 1 to the last end. As much as I enjoyed it, I felt the ending was to abrupt. It didn’t feel completed and I couldn’t get down with that. I would love to continue this as a series, so if that’s the route we’re going then its A-Okay with me.

Warwick is a total douchebag, but I love his reasoning as being a dragon. He is really old, and used to being on his own. Use to doing what he wants when he wants, and doesn’t let anyone step in his way. Avery is an omega passed his prime age, but he’s son to the Alpha who owns Warwick money. Coming to collect, sparks fly and both find their mates. Its not what each other expects, but its set in stone from there.

I love how Warwick’s demeanor instantly changes for Avery. He’s a softer and caring person around him. He’s patient, and Avery opens up as well. This totally worked for me. I’m hoping the author can write a series off these characters or possibly this world. I think if you would like a sugary sweet romance with a little paranormal influence then this is right up your alley.

About M.A. Church

Hey and welcome to my M/M blog! My published name is M.A. Church, but I also wrote as nomoretears00. I’m a true Southern belle who spent many years in the elementary education sector. Now I spend my days lost in fantasy worlds, arguing with hardheaded aliens on far-off planets, herding my numerous shifters, or trying to tempt my country boys away from their fishing poles. It’s a full time job, but hey, someone’s gotta do it! When not writing, I’m exploring the latest M/M novel to hit the market, watching my beloved Steelers, or sitting glued to HGTV. That’s if I’m not on the back porch tending to the demanding wildlife around the pond in the backyard. The ducks are very outspoken. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two grown children.

When Ward Johannsen’s little girl Ava shifted into a werewolf, she was taken into custody by the feds and shipped off to the nearest pack, all ties between father and daughter severed. Ward burned every bridge he had discovering her location, and then almost froze to death in the Colorado mountains tracking her new pack down. And that’s just the beginning of his struggle.

Henry Dormer is an alpha werewolf and an elite black ops soldier who failed his last mission. He returns home, hoping for some time to recuperate and help settle the pack’s newest member, a little pup named Ava who can’t shift back to her human form. Instead he meets Ward, who refuses to leave his daughter without a fight. The two men are as different as night and day, but their respect for each other strikes a spark of mutual interest that quickly grows into a flame. They might find something special together—love, passion, and even a family—if they can survive trigger-happy pack guardians, violent werewolf politics, and meddling government agencies that are just as likely to get their alpha soldiers killed as bring them home safely.

Thanks Michelle Visage, even your face said it all.

Meh.

My favorite word to describe my feelings after reading this. It wasn’t bad, but it was nothing else. No spark, no connection, no feeling, and didn’t seem like it worked well together. Felt like it was 2 stories going on at once, and the disjointed feeling didn’t end at all. I have a couple questions about Ward. What happened to his life back in California? Did he have people to pack up and distribute his things? Was no one concerned about his abrupt leaving? This bothered me so much. Way more then the governmental use of werewolves to do their wet work. I mean werewolves are only stronger then humans, and I know they aren’t that many but the whole working for the government and being their bitch didn’t work for me. I finished it.

Ward’s 4 year old daughter shifted on her first day of preschool, and he wasn’t there to see her before the government sent her to a pack. He’s doing everything in his power to get her back, no matter that the rules say otherwise. He has an ally who helps him locate his daughter and makes it his mission to see her, and get her back. Henry is the alpha of the La Garita Pack, and he’s commissioned to the Army to do whatever they want. This last mission wasn’t something that he seemed to let roll off his shoulders, he comes back home to a trespasser and is determined to follow the laws. Having the guardian’s entire attitude changes keeps Henry on edge.

It was certain aspects that I liked. I liked Sam’s character. I felt like alot of this was under-developed. Tennyson, for example could have had more use. I don’t know if I liked how the culture was set-up. Everything felt to complicated. If Henry was the big Alpha dude with a case of heroism, he didn’t seem like it at most times. The romance was soooo subpar! Blah, Blah, Blah. That’s how I felt. I didn’t like them together, probably because it was ZERO connection. I mean, they basically were lumped together because no one else was around. Then Sam having this convenient set-up at the end. It didn’t work for me.

Personally, I didn’t care for it much, but others might enjoy it. I haven’t read many book by Cari Z, so I don’t know if this is her formula or not. If you like PNR, then this might be for you. It wasn’t the worst, and I’ve read worst, but I didn’t really care for it.

Whoever said blood was thicker than water never stood in a pool of it.

Retiring from stealing priceless treasures seemed like a surefire way for Rook Stevens to stay on the right side of the law. The only cop in his life should have been his probably-boyfriend, Los Angeles Detective Dante Montoya, but that’s not how life—his life—is turning out. Instead, Rook ends up not only standing in a puddle of his cousin Harold’s blood but also being accused of Harold’s murder…and sleeping with Harold’s wife.

For Dante, loving the former thief means his once-normal life is now a sea of chaos, especially since Rook seems incapable of staying out of trouble—or keeping trouble from following him home. When Rook is tagged as a murder suspect by a narrow-focused West L.A. detective, Dante steps in to pull his lover out of the quagmire Rook’s landed in.

When the complicated investigation twists around on them, the dead begin to stack up, forcing the lovers to work together. Time isn’t on their side, and if they don’t find the killer before another murder, Dante will be visiting Rook in his prison cell—or at his grave.

This story starts a bit down the road from the last book. Rook and Dante are still together and they’re a solid couple by the time this begins. Rook breaks in to his cousin’s home to pull a prank but instead finds a dead body and then finds himself neck deep in the middle of another investigation.

The investigation is fast paced and pretty entertaining. The who-done-it aspect keeps the reader guessing until the end.

The romance continues to develop and the guys are both sweet and steamy together. I like these two as a couple and I enjoyed watching Rook drop his guard for Dante.

The reason my rating wasn’t higher though had to do with writing style. There were so many parts that were overly descriptive and completely unnecessary in my opinion. There were a bunch of places that danced on the edge of being purple prose and it just didn’t work for me. I found myself being annoyed and skimming a lot of passages. It was so prevalent that it took away from my overall enjoyment of the book.

This book could be read as a standalone but you might enjoy it more if you’ve read book one. There are a lot of side characters of importance and it helps to know who they are in relation to Rook and Dante. Also, if you’re a fan of this author’s Cole McGinnis series you will see quite a few Easter Eggs in this. (Which is something I personally love for authors to do.)
