Two lovers from rival packs. Have they come together only to be forced apart?

Alec Knight, a beta in the Regent’s Park pack, guards his heart carefully. Ghosts from his past keep him alone and angry, any hope of a relationship impossible while guilt from the pack wars still haunts him. With the anniversary drawing near, Alec needs a distraction.

As a lowly member of the Primrose Hill pack, Mark Appleton isn’t used to having his alpha’s attention. Lately he’s had more than his fair share, and not for the right reasons. Despite growing suspicions that all is not well, Mark tries hard to do better, but constant criticism leaves him desperate for a stress outlet.

Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.

If they want to be together, they’ll have to go against their alphas’ wishes—except Alec won’t and Mark can’t.

Excerpt

Mark’s scent might have been lost to him before, but standing this close to him, Alec had no trouble picking it out—a light citrusy undertone to the spicy edge he’d detected earlier with just a hint of the tequila working its way out of his system. Even with the alcohol, he smelled good.

Alec took a deep breath in, not bothering to be subtle about it. Might as well put the offer out there. He wasn’t in the mood for games tonight. Maybe he hadn’t consciously gone in there with the intent of hooking up with Mark, but he liked what he saw. Dark hair and blue-green eyes had always done it for him.

It was a bad idea; the worst one Alec had had in a while probably. But like it had done on the street outside, Mark’s scent stirred Alec’s interest, making his wolf perk up and take notice. He didn’t always get that with people he fucked. When it happened, it boded well for the night ahead.

And it was just sex, right? After Cam’s accusations, Alec couldn’t make relations between their packs any worse. Cam might disagree, but Alec needed to get all this tension out of his system if he was to be any use to his alpha over the next few days. And both he and his wolf had decided on Mark.

Horse shifter Nick has one rule: never trust a witch.

Nick has devoted his life to making his saloon a safe haven for the feral familiars of New York. So when a brutal killer slaughters a feral under his protection, Nick has no choice but to try and catch the murderer. Even if that means bonding with a handsome Irish witch.

Officer Jamie MacDougal came back from the war in Cuba missing part of a leg and most of his heart. After his former lover becomes one of the killer’s victims, Jamie will do anything to solve the case.

Nick comes to Jamie with a proposal: after making a temporary bond, they will work together to stop the murders. Once the killer is caught, they walk away and never see one another again.

It sounds simple enough. But the passion that flares between the two men won’t be so easily extinguished. And if Nick can’t learn to trust his witch, he stands to lose everything—including his life.

This book!!!! It was everything. Hawk never disappoints. I mean the story was so heavily featured with an actual plot plot for this series. Not that the other ones haven’t been, but this one had alot of grit in it. Nick finally gets his love and book. Ornery stubborn as this horse, Nick. He finds his match in the last person he’d ever want. Jamie MacDogual, MWP policeman and witch. Two things Nick abhors the most. This is definitely a longer book in the series compared to the others. A lot of things took place. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. My only issue was the ending. Bit abrupt in the Nick & Jamie sense. I mean, the fight the good fight and we get maybe 3 pages of them at the end. I’m not looking for full chapters of what’s to come, but I definitely wanted more.

I admire Nick and everything he’s stood for. He has his personal beliefs and the reasons for all his reservations with the police and witches. His past plays a big part of how he moves in & out the world. Nick is up against the wall in his crusade for the familiars in his world. He’s a major play in the Familiar world in New York. He’s also a major pain for the cops and the bad guys in this book. He has to bite the bullet and do something he didn’t think he’d ever do. Bond with a witch. Not any witch, but his mate. The one person that is going to unlock his magic together through their bond. Jamie MacDogual is his mate. Jamie has his own reservations. He’s trying to live up to the war hero. It isn’t that he doesn’t want to be it, but the truth and who he is now is different. I loved that Jamie was a listener. He was really adamant about seeing both sides since he’s involved so much.

Their progression together isn’t easy. Nick fights his attraction every step of the way. Jamie realizes his feelings for Nick is only about Nick. I thought the story was really well thought out. It was written amazingly. Oh my goodness, I got to see some of my favorites like Rook, Cicero & Mal. Issac, I cannot wait for his book. Hawk’s work is always impressive and really well written. She continues to execute her work as amazing as ever.

three-half-stars

I can’t believe I read another Sex & Dlonae story. Yeah, that’s how I refer to them. I keep saying I’m going to stay away because its so much stuff happening that I can’t keep up at times. Well obviously, I didn’t keep my word and read it right away. I liked it enough. It had its funny moments, it had its smexy time moments big time, and about time I saw Austen & Zachary!!! I’m waiting on their story. It doesn’t seem to be coming fast enough. Dex is his usual annoying self, and Sloane has managed to turn into a neutered jaguar, but hey Wolf was totally in this one. I can’t wait to read more on him.

Pre-gaming for a wedding is definitely a necessity. I enjoyed all those festivities in my own, and can acknowledge that Dex wanted his own. I was a little leery on Sloane not having the same, but once you read it then you totally get it. Ummm, I’m trying to figure out who the mole is. I mean, Dex isn’t a celebrity so for these events to happen then it’ll have to be someone close to him giving up all the deets. I’m trying to step away from this series, but its addictive & aggravating all in the same sentence.

I do like seeing all the couples come together and celebrate this union. I know we are near the ending of this series, and I’d like to see a few couples spotlights and maybe see Tony & Sparks really come together publicly. Yeah, I want pops happy. Fans of the Thirds Series will really enjoy this. Don’t read this series out of order, you really won’t understand.

To be loved by a dragon is to be treasured.

A hundred years ago, werewolf Alpha Montgomery took a risk driven by desperation—he borrowed money from the ancient dragon Warwick Ehecatl, putting up the pack lands as collateral. Now the debt is due, and dragons don’t forget—or forgive. Warwick demands Montgomery’s son, Avery, and three businesses as compensation. As an Omega, Avery knows he is basically useless to his pack, so he might as well agree. He soon has second thoughts, though. Warwick is fearsome, and he’s free to do as he likes with Avery.

Warwick knows his race’s reputation, and he even admits some of it is deserved. But he’d rather cut off his tail than let his innocent mate’s light go out. It won’t be easy, but buried deep, there’s something between them worth safeguarding.

This hit all my creamy crack comfort reads!

√ Possessive-Aggressive Alpha Dudes

√ Virgin Guys

√ Shifters

√ Scorching Hot Foreplay

If this was a series book, then I’d be the first person in line to gobble these up. I’m addicted to alpha-omega stories, and don’t care if it isn’t wolf shifters. I really adored Church’s The Harvest series. This book was really good. It was sweet, fluffy, cheesiness, and scorching hot. I read it in one sitting from page 1 to the last end. As much as I enjoyed it, I felt the ending was to abrupt. It didn’t feel completed and I couldn’t get down with that. I would love to continue this as a series, so if that’s the route we’re going then its A-Okay with me.

Warwick is a total douchebag, but I love his reasoning as being a dragon. He is really old, and used to being on his own. Use to doing what he wants when he wants, and doesn’t let anyone step in his way. Avery is an omega passed his prime age, but he’s son to the Alpha who owns Warwick money. Coming to collect, sparks fly and both find their mates. Its not what each other expects, but its set in stone from there.

I love how Warwick’s demeanor instantly changes for Avery. He’s a softer and caring person around him. He’s patient, and Avery opens up as well. This totally worked for me. I’m hoping the author can write a series off these characters or possibly this world. I think if you would like a sugary sweet romance with a little paranormal influence then this is right up your alley.

When Ward Johannsen’s little girl Ava shifted into a werewolf, she was taken into custody by the feds and shipped off to the nearest pack, all ties between father and daughter severed. Ward burned every bridge he had discovering her location, and then almost froze to death in the Colorado mountains tracking her new pack down. And that’s just the beginning of his struggle.

Henry Dormer is an alpha werewolf and an elite black ops soldier who failed his last mission. He returns home, hoping for some time to recuperate and help settle the pack’s newest member, a little pup named Ava who can’t shift back to her human form. Instead he meets Ward, who refuses to leave his daughter without a fight. The two men are as different as night and day, but their respect for each other strikes a spark of mutual interest that quickly grows into a flame. They might find something special together—love, passion, and even a family—if they can survive trigger-happy pack guardians, violent werewolf politics, and meddling government agencies that are just as likely to get their alpha soldiers killed as bring them home safely.

three-stars

Thanks Michelle Visage, even your face said it all.

Meh.

My favorite word to describe my feelings after reading this. It wasn’t bad, but it was nothing else. No spark, no connection, no feeling, and didn’t seem like it worked well together. Felt like it was 2 stories going on at once, and the disjointed feeling didn’t end at all. I have a couple questions about Ward. What happened to his life back in California? Did he have people to pack up and distribute his things? Was no one concerned about his abrupt leaving? This bothered me so much. Way more then the governmental use of werewolves to do their wet work. I mean werewolves are only stronger then humans, and I know they aren’t that many but the whole working for the government and being their bitch didn’t work for me. I finished it.

Ward’s 4 year old daughter shifted on her first day of preschool, and he wasn’t there to see her before the government sent her to a pack. He’s doing everything in his power to get her back, no matter that the rules say otherwise. He has an ally who helps him locate his daughter and makes it his mission to see her, and get her back. Henry is the alpha of the La Garita Pack, and he’s commissioned to the Army to do whatever they want. This last mission wasn’t something that he seemed to let roll off his shoulders, he comes back home to a trespasser and is determined to follow the laws. Having the guardian’s entire attitude changes keeps Henry on edge.

It was certain aspects that I liked. I liked Sam’s character. I felt like alot of this was under-developed. Tennyson, for example could have had more use. I don’t know if I liked how the culture was set-up. Everything felt to complicated. If Henry was the big Alpha dude with a case of heroism, he didn’t seem like it at most times. The romance was soooo subpar! Blah, Blah, Blah. That’s how I felt. I didn’t like them together, probably because it was ZERO connection. I mean, they basically were lumped together because no one else was around. Then Sam having this convenient set-up at the end. It didn’t work for me.

Personally, I didn’t care for it much, but others might enjoy it. I haven’t read many book by Cari Z, so I don’t know if this is her formula or not. If you like PNR, then this might be for you. It wasn’t the worst, and I’ve read worst, but I didn’t really care for it.

four-stars

I really enjoy this series! I’m not an animal person at all, but I would love to have all these dogs with me. Easton’s, Howl At The Moon series is one of my favorite shifter series! Each book has something different in it. This book had me tearing up in the first 10%. I couldn’t believe it. I really enjoyed Rav’s characters and Sammy’s earnest personality.

Rav is a biker, with a heart of gold. Running a no-kill shelter and taking in dogs when he doesn’t have enough room. Sammy is such a sweet doggy. He’s a sweeter human. He’s had a tough life up until getting to Mad Creek, but he pushed through and made it work. This was a relatively slow burn on the romance, and it wasn’t bad persay. Not the steamiest, but I can always understand it isn’t needed. I liked how Rav stuck to his guns with the town. Loved all his reservations, fears, and hopes being played out on the page. In each book, Eli defintiely distinguished each personality with their dog’s counterparts. I really liked Rav and his knowledge on how each dog is. Love how he was able to be patient with Sammy. Allowing Sammy to learn on his own, about what he wants and doesn’t.

Don’t know how I feel about some of the other characters getting page time. It felt rushed in a sense that no other story offered it, and felt like the author didn’t have much to say with these characters. I also couldn’t understand making Rav’s background so heavy for it to dull off at the end, and nothing to come from it. The ending didn’t feel like an ending. More like a middle. It didn’t feel like a proper ending like the rest. I don’t know whats to come for Rav & Sammy. Even these problems to me, wouldn’t make me change my rating. I did like it. I really would like to see Rex & Simon get a book, of course not together but seperately. Its a lot more quickeneds in Mad Creek that need their stories told!

Some live on memories…

Almost dying during a pack uprising has a way of shaking things up. I’m no longer Mr. Laid Back now that there’s an itch under my skin I can’t scratch.

On a volunteer mission that goes beyond the walls of our compound, we enter the territory of a pack long thought dead, and find ourselves on the business end of their spears.

What I’m not prepared for is what I find within their walls—The one shifter I never thought I’d see alive, the one I’d mourned twice, the one I’d always loved. He is alive, and if I have anything to do with it, he’ll stay that way. But he’s got secrets, and exposing them could lead us to an enemy worse than the bloodthirsty undead shifters wanting to kill us all…

four-stars

I really liked this second book in the Silver Tip Pack series. This one had a different feel to it than book one but was just as good.

This story focuses on Bay who is Dare’s brother. He’s the wise cracking and good natured one in their family but he’s struggling at the beginning of this story. Bay is grieving his second loss of Nash and he’s feeling restless. His were wants him to leave and look for something but he’s not sure what it is. As a result he offers to visit another pack to see if they can set up a trade pact. What Bay finds there turns his world upside down.

This story was more fast-paced and full of action than Daring Fate was. This one kept me on the edge of my seat from almost the beginning of the story. Bay and his pack mates are fighting other pack members as well as the zombie weres. (Can I just take a minute to tell you how much I love the fact that there are zombie werewolves in this series? Zombie! Werewolves!) All kinds of things happen and there are some shocking surprises.

The love story was also good. I love a good second chance story. I also love a good hurt/comfort story. Combine them together and I’m in reader bliss. Bay and Nash are just wonderful together and Bay is full of swoon worthy moments. Some of the stuff he says… *dreamy sigh*. These two are not fated mates as the couple in book one were, but they know they’re meant to be mates and their romance development was lovely.

I don’t have anything negative to say about this series other than the writer is not releasing them fast enough for me. This one hasn’t even been released and I’m already itching to get my hands on the third one. Looks like we know who the next book will be about but I’m not going to tell you. It’s going to be a big surprise.

Richard doesn’t mind being an omega; all he cares about is playing good hockey, even though it means ignoring the media that tries to rip him apart for it. They don’t think omegas should be allowed on the ice, but he gets along fine. He’s team captain. He can play with the best of them.

The one sticking point is his heats; Richard might be on suppressants, but he’s one of the unlucky ones who still gets a heat every four months or so. They suck to deal with, especially alone, but seeking out a heat partner isn’t an option. The PR nightmare alone keeps him from any kind of hook-up. He can’t risk it. Hockey is all he’s got.

When Richard’s heat comes early while his team is on a roadie, teammate and best friend James helps him out of a bad situation. Tired of hurting, Richard decides it’s better not to go it alone. And James is safe and warm; he’s a great alpha who knows just what Richard needs. When Richard also imprints on big, bad rival player, Dmitry Sokolov? There’s sweet comfort in a three-way with lots of knotting and dirty talk.

Richard might be on cloud nine.

No Rating

So ummm. Yeah, somebody dropped the ball big time on this. Umm with you have A/B/O stories they usually are in the world, and feature a PNR aspect somewhere. Anywhere, anywhere. I mean that. I don’t know what in the crackerjack is going on in this world. There was no rhyme or rhythm to the story. Nothing made sense at tall. Richard being this old and not knowing the basic omega function is laughable. I did not enjoy this at all. We see by the lack of rating, but I decided to continue. I couldn’t help but realize the author made the Omega’s heat very very similar to a women’s menstrual cycle. I don’t know if it was done purposeful or not, but I’m laughing at the thought of a hockey player who wears briefs and uses industrial pads for his slick! Its a many jokes in that in itself. This was very convoluted as well. James & Dmitry’s participation was nice, but we didn’t get to see it!!! What was the point of this story, it finished abruptly and feel like it was in the middle of the book instead of the end. In my opinion it was a waste of printing. No substance, no sense, no complete understanding of the trope obviously. I mean, who can’t get shifter smut right? Apparently this author.

A year has passed, and while Sam’s been captured five or six more times since then, things are pretty great. His parents are happy, Gary and Tiggy still eat sass for breakfast, Randall is somehow alive despite being older than the gods, the King rules with a gentle hand, Kevin the dragon is as gross as ever, Morgan sighs a lot, Ryan continues to be dashing and immaculate, and Sam is close to convincing Prince Justin they will be best friends forever.

Life is good.

Until it’s not.

Because Vadoma, the leader of the Gypsy clan and Sam’s grandmother, has come to the City of Lockes with a dire prophecy written in the stars: a man of shadows is rising and will consume the world unless Sam faces his destiny and gathers the five dragons of Verania at his side.

And she brings along her second-in-command, a man named Ruv.

Ruv, who Vadoma says is Sam’s true cornerstone.

(The first book in the DESTINY FUCK YEAH! Trilogy (because sometimes, having a destiny is the stupidest thing ever).

Highly anticipated sequel to one of the funniest books ever! I swear I will see a page count for Klune at times and groan really loudly. He’s that best friend in my head who is extremely long winded and never knows how to get to the moral of the story quickly. Ha ha! Its Klune, I know with him that I’m going to be put through the ringer before any amount of happiness is warranted. This book was no exception. A lot more emotional then the first. A lot of details about the future of the series is brought up, and yeah that stupid word destiny is here. Sam totally should have been at Hogwarts. He would have killed it. Pay me no mind, its my wishful thinking. Here’s what I had to say!

Its almost a year later and Sam & Ryan are happy. Everyone is well, and the people of Verania are seemingly safe. Its all we can hope for with this crew of misfits. Sam realizes not everything is what it seems. He’s heartbroken by his mentor. Someone he worships, loves and trust. He’s devastated but Sam won’t allow anyone to tell him Ryan isn’t his cornerstone or use that stupid word Destiny against him. Of course, Gary, Tiggy, Ryan and Kevin won’t allow Sam to wallow. They decide that Sam is going to be just fine and surround him with love. I don’t know if I trust Vadoma or Ruv. I’m keeping my eyes open on those two. I like the gathering of the 5 dragons and determining if Sam is going to stay on the righteous path. Very Lord of the Rings and that’s a plus. With Kevin being, Kevin I didn’t know what to kind of dragon to expect.

ZERO!!! Oh my goodness. I loved him and wanted to cry at the same damn time. I must do emo people justice because he was such a breathe of fresh depressing air. I really enjoyed him as a character and those moments when it was just Sam and him were some of my absolute favorite. For all the joy, happiness, and laughter at times it does feel out of place. He created this wonderful character in Zero and I cannot wait for the next book to see more of him.

This journey is a lonely one for Sam. Sure he has his people with him, but so many secrets he is keeping and I’m wondering what is his boiling point going to be. He is sure to explode and most likely do some damage to the folks around him, but it wouldn’t be a me against the world trope if it was. Klune’s way with words gets better and better as I read them. Yes its humor, and jokes. Its more then that in this book. It is putting the joys of all before the love of one person. They can never say Sam isn’t about his country. Even if said country is lead by a bunch of idiots and that heifer Tina DeSilva!

If I’ve said it once, then I’ll say it again Klune is a wizard at his craft. He is able to gather all these emotions within his readers and I don’t think it has anything to do with the genre. Its his pen game as simple as that. I’m a fan for life. I cannot wait for more writing this year, and equally dreading the last BOatK book 4! Its not about that right now! Highly recommend, and go read the book people!

About TJ Klune

When TJ Klune was eight, he picked up a pen and paper and began to write his first story (which turned out to be his own sweeping epic version of the video game Super Metroid—he didn’t think the game ended very well and wanted to offer his own take on it. He never heard back from the video game company, much to his chagrin). Now, two decades later, the cast of characters in his head have only gotten louder, wondering why he has to go to work as a claims examiner for an insurance company during the day when he could just stay home and write.

He lives with a neurotic cat in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. It’s hot there, but he doesn’t mind. He dreams about one day standing at Stonehenge, just so he can say he did.
