Theodore Reinhart is a young man looking for love. In San Diego. At a convention. For penguin shifters. WaddleCon is the go-to event of the year when looking for your life partner, but Theodore isn’t comfortable with the game they’ve turned dating into, nor does the convention provide for the gay community. A mistake in speed dating table assignments puts Theodore in front of Wesley O’Neill, a handsome and confident model who lets it slip that he’s definitely noticed the spark of attraction between them.

A perfect date ends prematurely when Theodore finds an abandoned egg in a bathroom trash can. Unable to leave it behind, Theodore and Wesley play a mad game of cat and mouse across the resort trying to keep it safe, all while growing closer to one another. Wesley may be the forever partner Theodore came looking for, but their relationship won’t work if they don’t make room for a little addition to the family.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2016 Daily Dose package “A Walk on the Wild Side.”

four-stars

This was such an adorable shifter story!!! My first penguin experience and definitely my favorite out of the Daily Dose. I’m a shifter girl and I can tell you the wolves, cats, and bears are generally my go to area. I didn’t expect a penguin shifter, but it was fantastic!!! This was the perfect combination of plot and romance. The beginning didn’t read like I started in the middle for such a short book, but it was just enough and left me wanting to more.

Theodore comes to San Diego for Waddle Con. A convention for all Magellanic penguins! Thinking it’s a gay meeting convention he is shocked that it’s for heterosexual people and on top of that the airlines have lost his luggage! He’s having a horrible day and just when the margaritas can’t come quicker he is pulled into speed dating. There he endures countless woman, some looking for hook -ups and one in particular is looking for husband and kids. LOL. I found Theodore reactions genuine and funny. It’s hilarious until he meets Wes who is Bi, but looking for someone. They go on a date and everything is good until Theodore finds an egg and foolery ensures! It was funny plot wise, and then super hot when it came to Theodore and Wes. I loved Theodore’s immediate attraction to the egg. This was a first for me by this author, and I really enjoyed it, I’m looking forward to reading her release out in August. I wish it was longer, and it’s exactly how I like my shifter stories. Good job!

About C.S. Poe

Is an author of gay mystery and contemporary romance. She believes that happily ever after is an attainable goal for any character, given enough elbow grease and legwork is provided.

C.S. lives in New York City, but has called a host of different locations home in the past, most recently being Ibaraki, Japan. She regrets no longer having easy access to limited edition candy, capsule toy machines, and clean trains, but over ten years in New York has proved to her there is no place quite like it.

She has an affinity for all things cute and colorful. C.S. is an avid fan of coffee, reading, and cats, in no particular order. She’s rescued three cats, including one found in a drain pipe in Japan who flew back to the States with her. Zak, Milo, and Kasper do their best on a daily basis to sidetrack her from work.

C.S. Poe’s first publication was Love Has No Expiration, by Dreamspinner Press in 2015. Her debut novel, Snow & Winter: The Mystery of Nevermore is scheduled for release in summer 2016 by DSP Publications.
