Hero and criminal. Brute force and subtle charm. Jonathan White and Crow Belcane are polar opposites, but if they want to rescue the man they both love, they’ll have to work together.

After visiting his former lover, Crow knows only one thing: he loves Regis and he will do anything to reclaim him. But before his very eyes, Regis is abducted. Kidnapped by high-end slavers. Only Regis’s infuriating partner, Jonathan—a dangerous vigilante—is willing to help.

To infiltrate the slave ring, Jonathan and Crow disguise themselves as master and pet. As a slave, Crow is pushed to his limit. He’s chained, branded, whipped, and forced to obey Jonathan’s every order. But the longer he spends at Jonathan’s feet, the more natural his disguise begins to feel—and the more he likes it. As much as he hates Jonathan, they make a good team.

Both of them are devoted to Regis. Despite the overwhelming attraction between them, Jonathan is unwilling to betray his partner, and Crow is unwilling to come between them. But once the three of them are together again, all bets are off. With the world against them, they have only each other to cling to.

This was not who Jonathan really was, Crow reminded himself… This was a game they were playing. This was a disguise. It was so easy to forget who Jonathan was when he looked so different. So easy to forget the awful things they’d done to each other.

five-stars

OMG! This was so good and I am totally going to fan girl the hell out of this review because the book is over and yet the story is not even close to being over and I want so much more. I can’t even think straight having finished this less than an hour ago. Goodness.

Evelyn Elliott, you have a fan in the form of a ginger girl who loves this series!

This begins about two years after Bad Magic ends. Crow has disappeared and left his best friend Regis, so that Regis can be happy with the man he loves, our newest Knight and always the handsome hero, Jonathan. But Crow needs his friend, he needs the magic Regis has because Belcane’s magic is beginning to fail and Crow, is losing the magic that makes him human. Phew. That is a lot of magic, isn’t it?

Gah! The reunion of Crow and Regis was so them it made me giddy but it also made me hurt. Seeing my beloved Crow so vulnerable practically begging Regis for his help and Regis, well… being Regis, throwing out the possibility of impossibility crushed me but it’s the way these two are. If they weren’t sarcastic and rough with one another in every way, they wouldn’t be them.

This is really Crow’s story and good lord that title, it just means everything right now and it’s stunning. I loved Crow throughout Bad Magic and so wanted him to be open with how he feels about Regis and about Jonathan. But this goes even deeper with the feels and Crow owned me over and over again. The way he feels for Regis, himself and his growth of emotion toward Jonathan… *sigh*

Oh Jonathan. How can you not love a hero whose morals and honorability are slightly skewed when it comes to protecting who he loves? And when Regis is kidnapped and he has to lean on Crow, the man who once threatened to skin him and the man he really doesn’t like nor trust, things start to get interesting.

I love once again the world that this series is set in, it’s so much fun, intriguing and really got sexy with this book. Jonathan needing to become a master and Crow his slave… good lord, can someone give a girl a fan? I thought the scene where Crow gets his cuffs and was marked was hot but then… it got so much better. Damn. The UST between Jonathan and Crow is so intense that I gripped my Nook so hard my fingers were tingling. I needed these two to give in so badly and yet I absolutely adored why they didn’t. The love and respect they have for Regis is amazing. They are all amazing and I am a mess from this book.

Regis, my always grumpy but lovely ginger. You were the focal point of this story though your voice lacked in numbered pages. Yet, even without your POV being prominent you were there, always on the mind and in the hearts of the two men who would risk their lives for you. Yup, you certainly have two men who want you.

So without going into a bunch of detail and spoiling the book I will tell you how worthy this series is. It’s fun, it’s snarky, it’s intense and it’s sexy and now that I am done with this book, I know it’s not over.

Boy oh boy oh boy was this book a lesson in edging… yeah, it went a bit kinky there for a bit and it was so good. I mean, Crow and what he learns about himself and all we get with that and then Jonathan; we kinda knew he liked the whole dommy/toppy deal from book one but we get more and then there is a bossy Regis… I need a drink and some sort of release from all the sexual tension in this book. Did I mention how good it was?

Once again, a great set of supporting characters share the pages with our three men and Athea, I totes agree with your summary of Chartreuse.  HA! That dragon slays… pun intended.

So, I haven’t said much have I? Oh well, that is me with reviews when I love a book and love this I did so much. I need the next one to see how this all plays out and how the three men work, in every way and position together. *grins*

Feather Fall, what an amazing title for an amazing story about submission in every way. To submitting your will, control and desires and knowing your submission is the strongest thing you have to offer.

Blog Tour + Excerpt – Bad Magic by Evelyn Elliott

Excerpt:

Distantly, Regis became aware of someone shaking him. “Regis, it’s over.” He squinted up.

It was Crow.BadMagic_bookmarkV_DSP

Crow picked up his knives, wiped off the bloody one, and sheathed them. He knelt by Regis. “You all right?”

“Jonathan,” Regis said. Crow pointed, and Regis looked. Jonathan lay on his side, still as the grave. All Regis could see of him was his back. “No. Is he, is he dead?”

It seemed ludicrous. Jonathan couldn’t actually be dead. And yet there he was, unmoving, his face turned away. Regis could see faint bruising on his nape. “I told you not to get attached,” Crow said.

“No,” Regis gasped. “No, he can’t be.” He crawled to his feet. “I can fix this. I took some power from the amulet. I can fix him.” His hands shook. “Maybe he’s almost dead. Maybe this counts. Maybe—maybe I won’t have to kill him, now. So if—so if I can just heal him—”

Crow hugged him gently. “Regis… no. Honey. He’s dead.”

And Regis utterly lost it. “No! Don’t you dare speak to me!” He shoved, but Crow caught his forearm. “Let me go, you awful excuse for a human being!”

“Sweet—”

“Don’t you dare call me that! I can’t believe you. I liked you! I defended you!”

Regis thought of Jonathan then: big hands around his waist, hot breath in his ear, the hidden truth in his voice when he’d said you know damn well why, and something inside him snapped.

He had enough energy to kill a man. He threw it all at Crow. An invisible force ripped Crow away and hurled him into a bookcase, toppling it. Crow’s feet slipped and tore pages as he was lifted into the air and held a hairbreadth above the ground, so close his boot scraped the floor as he was dragged to the wall and pinned like an insect. Held there, he would suffocate by inches. His face was whiter than it’d ever been. There was terror in his eyes, real terror, and seeing that expression on another human being made Regis feel exactly like Belcane.

He let go. Crow crumpled to the floor. “You… crazy… bastard,” he said between gasps.BadMagic_FBbanner_DSP

Regis sat heavily on a fallen bookcase. “You said you were on my side.”

“I… am on your… side.”

“You’re not like her,” he said. “You wouldn’t do this. Not if you didn’t have to. Crow, did you… did you really kill him?”

To ask was absurd. Jonathan lay ten feet away. The easiest thing to do would be to go check his throat for a pulse. Regis didn’t quite dare.

Crow rested on the wall. “Hear me out. I understand why you’re angry. I’m not blind. I know you had feelings for him, and I know you wanted to betray Belcane. Which is fine, by the way. I’ve been trying to kill her for ages. And it’s a pity he had to die, yes. But it was you or him. What, did you expect me to sit idly by while you got yourself killed?”

“Don’t you dare make this about you.”

“You weren’t going to kill him, and it had to be done. Someone had to do something. Why not me?” Regis curled into a ball and said nothing. “Get up,” Crow said.

“No.” His voice hurt coming out. “Leave me to rot here. Belcane can kill me for all I care.”

Spell Slave: Book One

Morality is relative. At least that’s what young sorcerer Regis Teller convinces himself. He’s done what he must to survive: working for a witch since he was nine, helping her throw the kingdom into anarchy, and taking his only comfort in her mysterious son, Crow. And soon, Regis is going to commit his first murder.

A do-gooder named Jonathan White has information the witch needs, and it’s Regis’s job to get that information and slit Jonathan’s throat. But then Regis actually meets Jonathan. And Jonathan is perfect—a hero with a passion for justice and little regard for civility.

Lucky for Regis, Jonathan has a weakness for attractive men. Lucky for Jonathan, Regis is fast developing a conscience and a heart. But for Regis, keeping both of them alive at their adventure’s end means breaking a magical oath and surviving his ruthless boss—all without telling Jonathan the truth. Falling in love is never easy, especially when everyone involved is lying through their teeth.
