“Have hope…I’d rather have you!”
This is somewhere between a four and a five star book. It was action-packed from chapter 1. Not a dull moment and it was everything I had been waiting for. What a way to close out a series, with a bang. I didn’t think Rebecca Zanetti could pull off a second awesome series finale in such a short time. Marked was such a fitting ending to the Dark Protectors and Zanetti turns around a few months later to hit another home room with Jory’s book.
Jory is the youngest Dean brother (gray brothers) and he was imprisoned by the Commander. We knew the older Dean brothers would try to rescue him and we knew they all had chips implanted in them. In the facility where Jory was imprisoned, Piper worked diligently to get the code to the chips. She believed Jory to be a Russian spy but they needed to get information from him to save American lives. Jory knew is path for freedom would involve Piper so he knew he would have to gain her as an ally. This story was how the battle for the Deans’ freedom was won.
This series cements Rebecca Zanetti as one of my favorite authors. Her stories deliver action, great characters and always a family connection that leads you to root for the main characters. Jory was just as fierce, loyal, strong and brave as his brothers. Piper was feisty, smart and perceptive. She was a really likable heroine. These two fit together and their attraction was awesome. They are my second favorite couple, after Shane & Josey. I loved how the conflict was resolved and I was impressed with the narrator. The voices worked and I think fans of the series will be pleased.
the one thing that would make this ending even better is if we learn that this really ISN’T the end. If the author will give us a spin-off, that would just be the icing on this cake!

A betrayal he couldn't forget . . . For Nate Dean, love is a four-letter word. As part of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be ruthless soldiers with an expiration date. They were loyal only to one another . . . until Nate laid eyes on the woman who stole his heart and blew his world apart. Now, years later, his family is still paying the price for his mistake. But as time runs out, there's only one person who can save his family: the very woman Nate swore he'd never trust again.A love she couldn't deny . . . The moment Audrey Madison spies Nate across a crowded ballroom, she can barely breathe. He's just as undeniably sexy as she remembers, yet there's an edge to him now that's as irresistible as it is dangerous. When he asks for her help, Audrey can't refuse. But she has secrets of her own--secrets that, if Nate ever discovers them, may cost them both their lives . . .(90,000 words)
I LOVE Rebecca Zanetti’s writing. I love her MCs but this is first time I recall her writing such a weak heroine. I really liked this story and the plot, but not as much as the prior books because Audrey was a nincompoop. Nate and the Dean brothers were awesome as usually but I don’t know how Nate could have fallen in love with such a naive ninny. Sure Audrey was book smart but she lacked the street smarts to survive around her mother and the Commander. I see the only reason she remained alive was that the Commander was planning on breeding her. That’s the real reason they didn’t get rid of her.
Her consistent behavior of placing full trust and faith in all the wrong people, or actually everyone she came in contact with made her so pathetic to me. Maybe Nate’s protective instinct is what lead him to fall for this sheep as she lived among a pack of wolves. Whatever the reason, Nate gave her his heart and thus Audrey gained the loyalty of the Dean Brothers.
The Commander and Madison are such a weird duo. Their experiments is the way they express their love and appreciation for each other. They are fully committed and they won’t stop until they bring the Dean Brothers to hell. We have irrefutable proof that Jory is alive so I look forward to see how they will seek to capture Matt, Nate and Shane using Jory.

Just loved this one. Rebecca Zanetti has now gone on my auto-buy list.
Out of the blue Major Shane Dean (marine) was brought by a police officer to his estranged wife’s job. Apparently Shane has walked out on his wife Josie 2 years ago to places unknown. Now he is back but with amnesia. This begins their journey to a second chance at love.
This book was exciting, intriguing and pretty hot. Zanetti tells an interested romantic suspense. I stayed up last to find out why Shane left Josie and why he is back and why he has amnesia. There was so much to this story and it was pretty good stuff. Shane was a military man, but Josie wasn’t the damsel in distress he took his wife to be. Obviously they had to really learn to forgive and trust, but they had to get to know the real person they married. I enjoyed Shane having to put everything on the line and trust his wife.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but I didn’t find this story to be predictable or cliche. It was an interesting concept and it was action packed from page one. I just couldn’t put it down so I think I will read book 2 tomorrow.
