He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.
four-stars

I am really enjoying Elle Kennedy right now. Like I have said before her writing style is fun, flirty, and clever. I love her characters and I love that there is a serious issue in the plot, but it isn’t so heavy that the whole story is sad.

We met John Logan, the best friend of Garrett Graham, in book 1 (The Deal). He was Garrett’s wing man and was a smart mouthed Lothario. John was in his senior year and was struggling with his decision to forgo professional hockey in lieu of taking over the family garage repairing cars.

All those partying ways changed when he met Grace Ivers, a freshman psychology major who didn’t know much about hockey. Logan was used to groupies and people wanting to be around him because he was a hockey player, Grace was one of the first people who saw the guy. Somehow Logan decided that he didn’t want Grace and pushed away.
When he realized “The Mistake”, Logan spent the year courting Grace, who didn’t make his wooing easy. She definitely made him earn her esteem back.

Again, Lorelei Avalon gave the story a great youthful narration, but not so young that it felt like a young adult story. The story made chuckle a lot because Grace and Logan had witty repartee. It was nice to have young adult stories where the characters had depth, and the story wasn’t weighed down with sex. Definitely a great follow up to The Deal.
