four-stars

It’s always a joy reading about these group of characters. I really like the anthology idea and to read about certain events that have happened over the course of the series. Of course it wouldn’t be me without Sloan and Ethan. Those are my favorite two, and I didn’t get enough Ethan. I honestly think she can write more and I’d never this it was enough of these two.

I would like more Tony though. I always want to see that relationship between him and his sons grow. This is no different then the first anthology we got to see some smut, some hilarious hi-jinks, some sweet Ethan moments and the rest of cast and crew. Some of these were really good! I did like seeing them all together harmoniously. I’m at a lost once again how to review this. I don’t want to spoil it by naming my favorite prompts, but I do think it’s a little bit of everything in here for many of our favorite couples.

As always I’m looking forward to more in this series. I am team Sloane all the way, but I would really appreciate if him and Dex took a major backseat in the next couple of books. I feel like they’ve been the focal point so long that even when it’s not their books they continue to steal other couples thunder. (**cough Ethan & Calvin cough**) I do recommend this to all Thirds fans. I think it’s always good to see what our favorite shifters & humans are up to while we are away!

The Witness Protection Program dumps JD Smith practically at the ends of the earth—in Two Pines, Alaska—to protect him until he can testify against a dangerous gang. He tries to stick to his story and keep his head down, but it’s impossible to ignore bush pilot Jake Wylder, a sexy loner with quite a reputation around the small town.

Flying medical supplies around Alaska suits Jake’s wild streak and love of freedom. He’s perfectly content to keep his romantic encounters casual—at least until he meets JD. Something about the nurse makes Jake think settling down might not be such a hardship. Now he just needs to convince JD he’s serious—which won’t be easy, given his past.

For a relationship to stand a chance, JD must testify so he can return to Two Pines as the man he really is—and Jake must grow into the man JD needs him to be.

three-stars

This was a cute short story. I did have a problem with concentrating on it. It could have been me, but otherwise I thought it was cute. I’ve never read anything by this author so the blurb was something that I was interested in. I found it humorous at times and a little angsty on JD’s part, and cheesy.

That’s okay, I can deal with this trifecta of things in such a short story. I liked Jake and his all his whorish ways. I don’t get what’s the big deal, he’s still in his 20’s, single, and just having fun. I think he’s only doing what people allowed him to do so far. I did enjoy seeing him suffer with JD. JD definitely made him work for it. LOL. Taming the Wyld had a little bit of plot substance since JD is in the federal witness protection agency. He is not expecting to meet or fall in love with someone. Now he has to think of all the consequences of making it work. I think the author did a great job on getting these two together. I like that they started slow and gradually worked their way up. I did enjoy the events coming together at the end! I look forward to more from her. P.s, I’m not an animal persons but I loved their pets names, Flower and Rory. So cute and cheesy on Rory’s name but I liked it nonetheless.

About Lucie Archer

Lucie Archer is a student of the universe who is obsessed with the stars, in love with beaches, and crazy about dudes falling in love. Her weaknesses include a big heart, the sun, self-doubt, and kryptonite…probably. Not the exact recipe for a supervillain, but she has plans to take over the world nonetheless.

Her first foray into nonacademic writing started with fanfiction—hardly an original origin story—but after a few years of honing her craft with other people’s characters, she realized she was perfectly capable of creating her own. Her underground lair, somewhere in Texas, is overflowing with them now as she prepares to unleash them on an unsuspecting world one book at a time.

As a realist, she works hard to write stories that are as honest and accurate as possible, regardless of whether that means staying up till 5am researching circumcision in the Ol’ West or refusing to quit until she knows exactly what the runway in Circle Hot Springs, Alaska consists of. (It’s gravel, in case you were wondering.)

When she’s not writing, she can be found tending to her garden, playing with her four-legged children, procrastinating, or planning world domination. Although, she spends an awful lot of time fending off random plot bunnies that threaten to derail her WIP’s.

Rory McGrath suffers from a debilitating condition—he caught it from reading too many books. Rory believes in true love. He’s saving himself until he finds it, preferably with Mr Darcy, but definitely not with the arrogant, unpleasant ape Adam Sandstone. Adam isn’t impressed with Rory either. Both Rory and Adam have yet to learn, however, that you cannot always judge a book by its cover. The nine other members of the new club could have told them this, had they been consulted. The founders of the Buckland-in-the-Vale and Sandstone Tor Gay Book Club know only too well that not all truths are written in books. Truth, like life, is what you make of it.

**Groans**

I’m not sure what more can John Wiltshire do. I’ve been dreading this review for a few days. Before this book was written, I was super desperate to see if Wiltshire can write a pure contemporary romance without any of the exceeding reality situation from the More than Heat the Sun Series. He did write a humorous, contemporary romance. Why the head bang? Because I wasn’t satisfied. I like how in my mind he’s writing for me. I’m not happy, and he’s probably thinking like what more do they want? He did enough, but it just wasn’t enough for me. Clearly, I have some sort of complex, and I promise you I don’t but I had huge expectations for this book. The only thing that saved me from DNF this book was Rory!!! I loved Rory. I liked the old lady gang in the beginning, but them heifers had to much page space for me. Adam is

That’s exactly how I felt. He was such a douche-face! ARGH!!! It was super teeth pulling for me to like him. He was an asshole, the biggest prat ever, and super self-absorbed. I literally kept picturing myself kicking in him the nads over and over. It was slim pickings for Rory, so the only available gay guy had to be this dude. I swear, if it wasn’t for his good looks then I’d want Rory to be a monk forever. Just let it go, or move away. I won’t give the plot away. I love the initial meeting in what both guys thought this was a gay hookup instead of an actual book club. I loved the premise of it as well. Definitely a feel good story, and I can see people fawning over it. Wiltshire humor and writing is super spot on. I found myself intrigued with the story right off the back. It was a bit of angst, but I definitely appreciated it. It leaves off with a HFN with the strong possibility of a HEA. It could go two ways, but we’ll see if a sequel is written.

About John Wiltshire

John is an ex-army officer who currently lives in South Island New Zealand. He’s been writing for many years and has a number of novels published.

Much of his fiction is based in England, particularly Devon, where he grew up. He usually manages to bring an ex-army character into his books. And a dog. Both are fun to write.

When John isn’t writing, he can usually be found at the beach, surfing.

Kyle Monroe’s encounter with a strange gelatinous creature in an alley leaves him scarred and forever changed, revealing odd abilities he wishes he didn’t have and earning him reassignment to a precinct where all the cops have defective paranormal abilities.

Just as he’s starting to adjust to his fellow misfit squad mates, Kyle’s new partner arrives. Tall, physically perfect, reserved, and claiming he has no broken psychic talents, Vikash Soren irritates Kyle in every way. But as much as he’d like to hate Vikash, Kyle finds himself oddly drawn to him, their non-abilities meshing in unexpected ways. If they can learn to work together, they might be able to stop the mysterious killer who has been leaving mutilated bodies along the banks of the Schuylkill.

three-half-stars

Haha, I enjoyed this book alot. Such funny characters, instances and love the paranormal feel of the story. I was immediately drawn into the story with Kyle’s funny stories, and Vikash’s stoic attitude. This read like a black comedy movie, such parody and it packed a punch of the laugh for such a short story. Angel Martinez did a great job, and I’m looking forward to book two!

I did like Kyle and Soren together, but I kinda would have liked them to build on it. It was super fast, and I know it’s novella length but maybe if we had a longer instance of them together I would feel better. I thought it was very funny, and laughed out loud numerous times. I loved all the paranormal elements and by far by funniest moment was with “Leather Jacket”. The connection between Kyle and Soren was super cute seeing as both guys had serious trust issues. This is such a wonderful fun story and I look for more.

About Angel Martinez

The unlikely black sheep of an ivory tower intellectual family, Angel Martinez has managed to make her way through life reasonably unscathed. Despite a wildly misspent youth, she snagged a degree in English Lit, married once and did it right the first time, (same husband for almost twenty-four years) gave birth to one amazing son, (now in college) and realized at some point that she could get paid for writing.
Published since 2006, Angel’s cynical heart cloaks a desperate romantic. You’ll find drama and humor given equal weight in her writing and don’t expect sad endings. Life is sad enough.
She currently lives in Delaware in a drinking town with a college problem and writes Science Fiction and Fantasy centered around gay heroes.

Dekker Callan is content with his life though he knows something is missing. Wanting the kind of love his friends share with their partners, Dekker is talked into taking part in a modeling and dating show as part of a fundraiser. He immediately falls in love with the anonymous, sexy voice on the other side of the wall, but fate has a surprise in store–his mystery man isn’t single.

Slade Gannon wasn’t supposed to take part in the dating show. That spot was for his roommate, Phil, who becomes ill and asks Slade to take his place. Slade has just recently gone through a breakup with his cheating boyfriend, George. Shocked and pleased when he wins the interest of handsome Dekker Callan, before he can go on the obligatory blind date, his ex asks for a second chance. Believing Dekker can’t possibly be as good on the inside as he looks on the outside, Slade agrees.

Dekker and Slade hit it off immediately, drawn to each other despite Slade being involved with someone else. They finally get their opportunity to be together when Slade finds out his boyfriend is still cheating, but just as they seem to discover the happiness they’ve been waiting for, George throws them one last hurdle—and this one may prove to be insurmountable.

three-half-stars

Okay this was hot. Like smoking UST, and desire wrapped in one.

So this was my first read from this author, and I’m pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it alot. I typically don’t go for blind date tropes, but I read the excerpt and I was interested. Dekker! Good lawd, that man did 100% turnabout in my mind. He went from this shy guy, to the exertive guy knowing what he wants. I mean, it was sexy to see a man pursue someone like Slade. Slade dropping the bomb that he was in a relationship at the beginning of the story made it interesting. I wanted to see how these two were going to act, and if the author would have been bold and have someone cheated. I would have been fine with cheating it happens in real life. I like that Dekker kinda checked Slade and state that just because he was pursuing him didn’t mean he was going to act on his feelings until the relationship was ended.

Slade kinda confused me, I don’t know if getting back with his ex was because he was lonely, or because he cared. I get taking him back for the amount of time to see if it would have worked, but he didn’t have a kind thing to say about George. These are some friendly guys in this story. The are all willing free with their bodies and kisses. I liked it. I thought the flow and pacing of the story was just right, and I really liked the writing style. I did feel at times it was prolonged for no reason. Some of the content could have been cut for me, but that’s my preference. I look forward to more from this author!.

four-stars

I like the idea of a published author taking the time out to write a book in this case on prompts by her fans. I think it is a sure way to stay connected and offer little tidbits in between publication of the series. This was great. I laughed at some of the prompts, and Aww’d at anything Tony, Dex and Cael related. They definitely were my favorite. I think Charlie handled each prompt really well. I loved the little bits of the past we got to see in certain characters. I look forward to Seb and Hudson getting back together and their love being shown on page. I loved seeing peeping Austen and quiet Zach. Bear shifters are one of my favorite and he’s so amazing. Of course, I can’t write by review without fangirling over Brodie & Hobbs separately of course. I literally had a big cheesy grin on my face once I got into it.

This book showcased some of my favorite moments in the short story. The first time Tony talks to Dex about Cael, I loved when Cael got his mark on him. Of course I was emotional. Loved seeing Calvin & Hobbs meet for the first time. Really liked seeing Tony give Dex the sex talk. I was continuously laughing. My all time favorite was definitely the Lamaze prompt. Whoever the promptee was I definitely applaud you. I loved it. Thank you Charlie for giving us these and it’s definitely something you should do again down the line. Now when is the next Thirds book coming out?

Hello all! Thank you so much for joining me today as we continue counting down to the release of THIRDS Beyond the Books: Volume 1. During the blog tour we’ll find out more about Big Cat Rescue where the royalties of this flash fiction ebook are being donated. We have some fun facts, a chance to get your prompt picked for the next THIRDS Thursday, a mini interview with about the THIRDS, and more! Plus, there’s a giveaway!

So what’s so great about Thursdays? Why don’t I let Dex tell you? Take it away Dex.

Dexter J. Daley here to impart some random wisdom on you. Thursday. It’s a day of the week. Obviously. But what’s so great about it? Here’s my list.

  1. We’re finally past Wednesday and closer to Friday. Friday equals the weekend. Weekends are awesome. Therefore, Thursday equals awesome. It makes total sense. For some, Thursday unofficially starts the weekend. Why not. The weekend’s not long enough. You know what would be even more awesome? If criminals took the weekend off. That way me and my boo can spend Saturday night being all romantic and cuddly instead of wiping Therian puke off our boots. Get drunk and shift in public outside your ex’s house anytime between Monday and Friday. I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.
  2. Thursday is named after the Norse God of Thunder. It literally translates to Thor’s Day. Don’t give me that “but in Latin—” Blah, blah, blah. Dude, Thor’s We have a day of the week named after freaking Thor. Can’t get much cooler than that. Yeah, I know, some of the other days of the week are named after Norse Gods and Goddesses too, but until Marvel gives them their own movie, Thursday’s still top of my list.
  3. In the Thai solar calendar, orange is the color associated with Thursday. Cheesy Doodles are orange. Thursday is Cheesy Doodle Day. Need I say more? Cheese Puffs are also acceptable.
  4. Thursday is also Throwback Thursday which means you get to laugh at old pictures of your dad and his questionable choice of wardrobe back in the eighties. Give it up, Tony. Parachute pants are never coming back. It’s over. Move on.
  5. Thursday is when you get to know more about me, my friends, my family, and my THIRDS crew. Ah, the memories. The laughs, the tears, the sexy times. Which reminds me, Austen, I know you’re reading this. I know what you did. It’s disgusting and immoral. That’s right, you Cheesy Doodle thief. You steal my Cheesy Doodles again and I will end you. Also, stop spying on me and Sloane while we’re getting busy. That’s what the internet is for. That and Candy Crush.

So there you have it, five reasons why Thursday is awesome. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a very full day ahead. I have a lion Therian to annoy, a baby brother to embarrass, a sexy jaguar Therian to climb, and that’s just before breakfast.

Bad Cop Diaries Book 2 – Jack Cannon’s sexy ex Will Tallman is a cop on the take…there’s nothing worse than a bad cop…or are appearances deceiving?

In this explosive sequel to Laid, a series devised by gay porn director John Bruno and written by A.J. Llewellyn, hotshot Los Angeles police Lieutenant Jack Cannon is back in action. With his lover Lucky out of town on assignment, Jack has too much time on his hands and too much aggression to wait patiently at home for him. With a multi-department takedown of a drug and gambling ring exposed in an old LA warehouse, Jack slips inside the ruined, crumbling building for some solo fun…except that a few other cops…and a bad guy or two have the same idea…some guys are just born to be bad…

Author’s Note: Every sex scene in this book was filmed for Massive Studios in a series of webisodes.

Excerpt

Summer held its grip on the city, even though it was November and the Christmas crush had started. Every hour on the hour, the song Let it Snow played on the piped music system of the Grove at Farmer’s Market. Fake snow fell from strategic spots on roofs and lampposts. It was so goofy when the weather was so unseasonably warm.

Lucky laughed as fake snowdrops landed on my cheeks. This outdoor complex, less than a mile from our house, was our go-to place and we loved it. We liked the fish family, as we always called them. We could never decide on the daily specials because everything was wonderful and dirt cheap.

The waitresses laughed with Lucky. Their hopeful stares faltered as he brushed white flakes from my nose and kissed me. There was no mistaking we were lovers. I veered between wanting people to know he was mine and keeping a safe, respectable appearance.

Stunned at the array of food they’d plied him with, I felt a wave of fury riding high in me.

“They gave you Shrimp Louie?” I asked, feeling a stab of jealousy.

“Fat free dressing,” he said.

I laughed. “My baby inhales French fries but likes fat free dressing.”

“Of course. You know I pick my carbs. Say, let’s finish this. I smell the caramel corn popping.”

We ate in silence. We never ran out of things to talk about. It was our first awkward moment together. Ever. It took me by surprise because we never stopped moving our lips. They were either on each other’s mouths, asses, or cocks, arranged around food or great conversation. But we sat, both so quiet, the weight of truth hanging like a steel wrecking ball between us.

He decided to kick the ball.

“Jack, it’s only a few weeks. We’ll be together for Thanksgiving, one way or another.”

“Fuck. It sucks.”

“Yeah, it sucks. But think how much fun we’re gonna have when we meet up again.”

“Shut up,” I said and he laughed.

He took my hand. “Popcorn calls.”

We pushed through the lunchtime crowd and bought a bag of it, still warm from the pot. We sampled some fresh coconut corn and bought a pound of that too. We loaded up on slices of fresh butter toffee after tasting tons of different blends. We couldn’t agree on the peppermint bark and chose candy cane bark instead. We snapped up miniature kiwi fruit and persimmons at the fruit stall. I was validating the parking ticket when I saw him open his cell phone.

“It’s time,” he told me. “They’re ready to roll.”

We went home to our little studio guest house in back of a Pepto Bismol pink duplex on Havenhurst Drive. When I first met him, Lucky had a gorgeous house in the Larchmont district. It was an elaborate prop, part of his undercover disguise as a Mafioso. Now he was on to another secret assignment and I would still be here, working with my own team. There would always be busts, there would always be separations, but this was the first.

He put his hand on my thigh as we waited for a light on the corner of Melrose.

“It fucking blows monkey chunks, Jack.”

“Yeah. It does.”

He stared straight ahead. “I’m going to ask you once and lie to me if you have to, but can you be faithful? Please tell me you won’t fuck anyone else. Please…just don’t do it.”

“I won’t.” I don’t think.

Dexter Wu’s life is hectic, but he’s managing—mostly. He’s on the verge of finishing grad school, and that means putting the final touches on his number one project: HAL, a social robot and children’s storytelling companion. But his best friend is leaving the country for good, his birthday’s coming up, he’s swamped with studying for finals, and he hasn’t slept in days.

He’s also going to destroy the world.

At least, his robot is, according to the possibly untrustworthy Agency, an organization whose mission is to protect the world at all costs. After his birthday party turns into a fight for his life, Dexter’s simple life of fast food and Netflix binges is replaced by a glitchy oracle, the world’s douchiest secret agents, and an ever-increasing chain of conspiracies.

With the help of Andre, a mysterious and disenchanted young agent turned rogue, Dexter sets out to plead his case to the Director in an effort to get his life back to what counts as normal—but he should know by now nothing is ever so easy.

“He was Neville Longbottom with a badass gun and he was going to fuck Voldemort’s shit up.”

I laughed alot while reading this. Seriously I loved all the different movie references that the characters threw at each other. I like the super cheesy villain. I thought Dexter Wu was an Asian Stiles. It read like fan fiction mostly to me, it’s not necessarily bad, but that’s how I felt. This was super light comedy with semi sweet romance. I had never heard of the author before, and I kept going back to the book on Netgalley and I’m glad I did. Wes Kennedy did a good with these characters, and the super sweet flirty times between Dexter and Andre. I especially loved Beavis parts. I was laughing so hard.

Dexter is a 21 year engineering major at MIT who loves Chipotle and Five Guys and loves his robot Hal. Unbeknownst to him his best friend is a super secret spy from “The Agency” sent to destroy him and his world destroying robot Hal. Super Agent Andre decided to save Dexter since the plan was never to harm him. I liked Andre and his stuck up ways. He was so agency never stepping out of character or hardly being flawed. I did enjoy when both guys decided to open up and be themselves. I thought the pacing and flow of the story was good and solid, and so many laughable moments. It’s no sex in the book at all, and Dexter admits to being asexual. I will admit, I groaned after reading the book. It’s like my 4th book in the last six months with characters being asexual. I don’t have a problem with it, but I read for the acts of sex and romance. I think I was missing it with these characters, but it was novella length so I didn’t get to perturbed. I just had images in my mind of Dexter being all awkward during it. All in all the OTT moments stole the show with the story. Maybe the author will write a part two so we can know if these two get into anymore shenanigans.
