An Almost Legal Adult

Bob awoke to a rustling in the kitchen. His daughter Beatrice was back from wherever she went at night. It had been a while since they’d had much contact, given the way their respective schedules conflicted.

He descended the stairs. “Don’t tell me you went out dressed like that.”

Beatrice turned from the cocktail she was assembling. “Dad, I’ve turned eighteen and I can wear what I want. I’m paying rent with what I make on my job. That makes me legally your tenant.”

“But sweetheart! Why go like that? All that tight leather. Your bare ass sticks out of those chaps. And when did you start drinking?”

“I didn’t. But there’s lots you don’t know about me, Dad. This is for someone in my room.”

“You have a boy in your room?”

“Well, not exactly..”

“Oh no! Not another woman!”

“No, Dad. A man. I have a man in my room.”

“Oh my god! Get him out of here! While you remain under my roof, you will be subject to my rules, no matter what you pay in rent. Now get him out of my house!”

“But Dad… He’s tied to the bed.”

“What?”

“Plus, he’s already paid.”

Meet the Author

Daddy X always wanted to be a dirty old man.

He survived the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and George W. Bush. He maintained an (almost) steady trajectory through Catholic school, a paper route, muskrat trapping, a steel mill, Bucks County, the Haight Ashbury, North Beach, the SF bar business, drug addiction, alcoholism, a stroke, hep C, cancer, a liver transplant, a year of chemo, a stickup at his art gallery while tied to a desk (not as cool as it sounds), a triple bypass, heart attack…and George W. Bush.

Now he’s old, and it’s time to get dirty.

He’s been with Momma X (greatest editor on earth) for fifty years, but she thinks his stuff is too skeevy to deal with. They live in northern California with a ninety pound lop-eared hound (17” wingspan) and two cats. Some of Daddy’s dirtiest stories have been gathered in The Gonzo Collection and Brand X, also available from eXcessica. Daddy is also published in anthologies by Naughty Nights Press, House of Erotica and in Cleis Press’ Best Bondage 2015.

Blog Tour – Mocha Kisses and Coffee by Rawiya

Mocha Kisses Banner

Oh My Shelves welcomes author Rawiya to the blog to chat with us about Mocha Kisses and Coffee and share insight to her muse…  er um, muses.

Writing Rawiya

Sharita Lira

Writing with three, no make that four, muses. Okay, we might as well say three until I write Veronica Bagby’s first book. When will that be? I haven’t got a clue, but hopefully soon because I think writing a black woman looking for a swirl romance would be an interesting experience. Why? Because it’s a situation so close to my own. I’m a woman in her 40’s involved in an interracial romance.

As an author, I like to write about things I’ve had no experience in. The reason I have multiple muses isn’t really about genre, it’s more about style, tone, and or plot. Michael Mandrake takes me places that scare me. He likes heavier plots with lots of drama. Law enforcement, Russian spies, serial killers. Yes, Michael keeps me on my toes. Then there’s BLMorticia. She’s the snarky side of me. Although I’m no comedian, I’m forced to come up with one-liners and her stories usually have music involved. Whether it’s writing about heavy metal musicians or people who are big music fans, BL loves to incorporate music in her stories.

And then there’s Rawiya. Rawiya is simple, uncomplicated. She’s my muse that loves a good story with very little angst. I rarely write with her because the other two take up a lot of my time, but when I do, it’s a joy because her stories are like fairy tales. Very little goes wrong for the characters in her books, and in a world where there is so much horrible things happening, it’s great to provide an escape from reality.

Truthfully, I like a lot of drama in my books. I like the plots to be heavy, multi-faceted, mind boggling for the readers as well as myself. I like plot twists and turns like the next author or reader, but sometimes just a simple story will do. With Rawiya, I like my stories to be pretty straight forward, with diverse characters. Though I’m not one who writes “instalove” Rawiya wanted these two stories to have quick HEA’s. Her characters wanted very little difficulty with some hot sex and romance thrown in so I went with the flow.

Since most of Rawiya’s stories are like this, I usually don’t have a lot of problems writing with this muse. It’s like a vacation after what Michael and BL take me through. *laughs* Having different muses is difficult, but when you have one that isn’t all that challenging, it can make writing a lot easier and more enjoyable.

Rawiya is a romantic who has an affinity for the sweet and spicy. Here’s a sneak peek at her love scene for Time to Make the Donuts.

Synopsis

Simple delicacies like donuts and coffee can bring two people together no matter what their differences; it can make for a very satisfying experience. But deceit can turn those experiences sour.

In these two stories, Cupid shoots his arrows at four men, drawing them to one another through chance encounters that instantly grow into something more.

Time To Make The Donuts

Christopher Wettlon has inherited his grandfather’s Donuts to Go shop. He’s young, educated, and pretty well off, but still something is missing from his life.

Enter Andre Bentley, who seems to have everything going for him. Little does Christopher know Andre is out for more than his fresh, strawberry creams.

The two men are getting along well until Chris confronts Andre about his job. Can Andre ‘work’ himself back into Chris’s good graces?

Smooth Like Latte

Brendan Walsh is committed to working for his irrational, homophobic dad who has threatened to disown him if he comes out gay to the world. Pretending to be someone he isn’t weighs him down. This puts Brendan on edge and alert at all times, leaving little to no time for him to build a steady relationship with anyone.

Davori “Latte” Jenkins is a happy go lucky barista working in the Walsh building. Born and raised in North Carolina, Latte possesses extremely good looks and charms the pants off anyone in his path using his Southern boy attitude.

When Brendan visits the shop Latte works in, they’re immediately drawn to one another. Latte makes him a caramel latte with something extra.

Because Brendan isn’t out of the closet, they keep their thoughts and flirtations private. Once they start dating, Brendan gets the courage to come out publicly and the relationship goes into overdrive. Still, Latte desires something more to define their relationship.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...preferably in bed. That's always been Kingsley Edge's strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it's Kingsley's chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he's ever wanted -- Søren, Nora's on-again, off-again lover -- until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and she's in "his" world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren's relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make... unless someone makes it for her....
five-stars

If you haven’t read the first two please don’t read this review!

Hell is fine. Surely God wants nothing to do with us, anyway.

Every book in this series just gets more and more amazing. The plot in this series is fantastic and it builds in a way that leaves you wanting more every time you close one of the books and this one wasn’t any different. This book left me on the edge of my seat and screaming through twitter at Ms. Reisz because I wasn’t expecting such an ending to leaving me with my jaw hitting the floor and begging for mercy.

This book took me to the past and the present and explored how the relationship between Kingsley and Søren developed and became what it is. It was so interesting getting the backstory on the two most prominent characters in Nora’s life. I really enjoyed seeing them as boys and especially Søren before he became a Jesuit priest. The relationship between them was beautifully broken and filled with such passion that when I was reading their stories I didn’t want to be anywhere else.

Kingsley is painfully in love and he hasn’t been right since. Watching Kingsley deal with his demons made me connect with him even more. Seeing how Søren actually can love someone made him more relatable. I really enjoyed the fact that he showed his feelings for Kingsley in ways that we haven’t seen him ways eye opening and so heart breaking.

God and Nora. They became the same person at that moment. He worshipped at the altar of her body and for a moment he felt the power of their union as a communion.

Wesley and Nora are my two favorite people in the world. The odds are against them in every way possible. She’s kink and he’s vanilla but watching her with Wesley shows how normal she can be. The sex scenes in this book were written like none other that I have read. This wasn’t a romance book filled with things that couldn’t happen in real life. This is how sex normally is! Watching two people go from friends to lovers is normally painful but this, this was amazing.

Wesley brings out a side of Nora that she didn’t even realize she had and I think she is finally coming to terms with the fact that kink isn’t all she is. There is more to her than the Dominatrix it just took the right person to bring out the best in her. I loved meeting Wesley parents they were great additions to the characters that we got to meet so far. I did miss seeing her and Wesley more but the snapshots that I did get were perfect.

It means, “I will kill the bitch.”

Oh My God just sums up how this book left me feeling at the end. This plot is phenomenal and I didn’t see this coming at all and you can ask anyone that normally I can figure something out. This on the other hand shocked the shit out of me. I can’t believe how this is playing out and I am squirming in my seat trying to figure out how this will work. Bravo Ms. Reisz!!!!
