Renner Bastion came off as an uptight, self-centered business man whom Milo Bautista had his hands full trying to protect. When Milo confides in his boss Renner, that he is attracted to a man for the first time and is struggling with how to proceed, Renner offers to coach him on landing this secret crush. What the reader ends up with seduction lessons that ended up as a satisfying love affair.
For an author who doesn’t usually write M-m romances, I was impressed. Renner and Milo really worked as a couple. Their personality difference really made this story interesting. Renner was intense, serious and single-minded on his career endeavors. Milo was more observant, relaxed and flexible to those around him. Renner was more of a loner, while Milo enjoyed camaraderie. It became really clear to me that they were the others missing piece because this relationship was exactly what they needed to balance their respective lives.
I didn’t read the prior books and I wish I had because I would have liked a little more build up in regards to the characters. I could also tell that the author laid the foundation in the prior books so I will go back and read from book 1. In terms of this book, Tessa Bailey did a great job in building the angst. Renner and Milo was also very sexy together. As opposites, they fought regularly which also lead to regular make up sessions. As Milo gained confidence in his sexual identity, he was able to bring Renner out of his shell more. Together they were peanut butter and jelly, Renner’s strong to Milo’s sweetness. I enjoyed the sex scenes but I wish these misunderstandings were worked out much quicker as Renner’s lack of trust became tedious. The only thing I would change is less sex and more romance, to build their connection. Milo was really a sweet guy so the connection could have been much deeper on an emotional level so the reader can really feel more than just hot physical chemistry. Still I was enjoyed this story and I was pleased with this conclusion of this story. I haven’t read Tessa Bailey before though I own a couple of her books, I look forward to becoming more acquainted with her work through this series.
